Performance analysis in telecommunication systems includes the derivation of various metrics, that can serve as benchmark in order to study the system performance with respect to the impact of various important parameters. Performance analysis is useful for comparison purposes between different systems with different characteristics. Moreover, it can serve as an indicator about the performance we expect when the system will be implemented and the grade of difference between a theoretical study and practice.
Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, Digital Communications and Systems (DCS) lab members conduct research in hot scientific areas of telecommunications.
The main research topics are:
The published work of the DCS lab members can be found in the Publication Section.
The Unmanned Vehicles (better known as drones – UAVs/UGVs) have seen a tremendous growth in the recent years, gaining wide popularity and offering a variety of new services. Telecommunications technology is the core element not only for the vehicles communications and control, but for the smooth and safe integration of the autonomous vehicles in the greater environment. DCS Lab is highly active in the area of drones communications and applications, it uses specialized equipment (quadcopters, fixed-wings, flight controllers, sensors etc.) and it is supported by experienced staff on drones systems. Some of the lab research areas are flying base stations, drone control with new technologies (e.g. 5G network), long-distance communications (BVLoS), remote and centralized drones fleet management etc.
