🟦 Welcome to the DCS Lab – Theodore Chinis Joins as PhD Candidate

Print Email

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Theodore Chinis has joined the Digital Communications Systems Laboratory (DCS Lab) at the University of the Peloponnese as a PhD Candidate.

Theodore holds a BSc in Electronics from the TEI of Athens, where his undergraduate thesis focused on real-time digital signal processing using the ADSP-2181 by Analog Devices. He continued his academic journey with an MSc by Research from the University of Bristol, UK, specializing in immersive audio rendering algorithms.

His professional career spans several high-tech and research institutions. He has worked in Intracom and MARAK S.A., developing real-time DSP and microcontroller-based applications. He also served as an aircraft electronics technician at Olympic Airlines, and later held technical roles at the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, the National Observatory of Athens, and currently, the Hellenic Air Force, where he works as an electronics engineer.

In addition to his technical expertise, Theodore is a certified drone operator, offshore sailor, and rigid inflatable boat operator, reflecting his broad interests and hands-on skills.

We are excited to welcome Theodore to our research team and look forward to his contributions to the lab’s ongoing projects in digital communications and signal processing.

Welcome aboard, Theodore!

Double Honors at the Robotics Festival 2025

Double Honors for Our Team at the Robotics Festival!

Print Email

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our laboratory has been awarded at the 4th Robotics & Intelligent Systems Festival of the Municipality of Kalamata, with two exceptional student teams—ACES HIGH and NEW FRONTIERS!

In the competition, we presented two groundbreaking systems:

  1. Human-drone communication using natural language, allowing users to operate drones effortlessly, without the need for specialized training.

  2. A real-time wildfire detection and mapping platform (web app), utilizing an autonomous UAV connected to a 4G/5G network to pinpoint and visualize fire outbreaks instantly.

We are overjoyed to share that we have won two prestigious awards—the "Innovative Design" award and the "Groundbreaking Idea" award!

A huge congratulations to our brilliant teams for their hard work and ingenuity! 🚀🔥
