We have winners! 🏆🏅 The ACES HIGH team (Antonio Mazilou, Panagiotis Leonis, Konstantinos Ntouros, Michalis Batistatos) from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Peloponnese will participate in the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Festival of the Municipality of Kalamata, having prevailed in the participation ideas competition co-organized by SoDa - Software and Database Systems Lab and the Municipality of Kalamata!
The team will present their creation “Intelligent swarm of unmanned flying vehicles for smart wide-area surveillance,” where multiple drones collaborate for target recognition: the swarm of drones monitors designated areas and when one of the drones detects a possible “target”, through an object recognition algorithm, then it sends a “message” to the rest of the swarm drones to approach the detection point and proceed to detection as well. Thus, the target is recognized by multiple machines and then a vote (voting) is made by the machines as to whether the object that has been detected is indeed a “target”.
